The Story Behind Our Polish Pottery
Functional art, generations in the making.

At Serendipity Salon and Gallery, we’re drawn to beauty that tells a story—and few things speak with more heart than Polish Pottery and Polish Stoneware.

Handcrafted in the village of Bolesławiec, Poland, this centuries-old stoneware tradition began with local farmers shaping jugs and dishes from the region’s creamy white clay to get them through the long winters. What started as folk art soon became a signature of Silesian life—practical, yes, but also artistic, decorated with now-iconic motifs like the rich blue peacock feather pattern (“Pfauenauge”).

Today, we carry pieces from Manufaktura, one of the most respected workshops in Bolesławiec. Founded in 1993 through the creative partnership of the Smolensk and Zwierz families, Manufaktura blends old-world craftsmanship with fresh, modern design.

Every piece is still made the traditional way: shaped by hand, decorated using sea sponges and fine brushwork, and glazed with natural, USDA-certified lead- and cadmium-free finishes.

The result? Pottery that’s not only stunning, but built to be used and loved every day.

Polish Pottery

Why We Love Polish Pottery (and you will too!)

Why We Love Polish Pottery:

  • Polish Stoneware is oven, microwave, and dishwasher safe

  • Even heat distribution and moisture retention

  • Naturally helps food stay fresh

  • Durable glaze that resists scratches and chips

  • Each piece is truly one of a kind

Whether you're roasting vegetables, serving up a family casserole, or pouring tea for a friend, Polish Pottery adds soul, color, and craftsmanship to the moment.

A Little Care Goes a Long Way:

To help your Polish Pottery last for generations:

  • Avoid sudden temperature changes (like fridge to oven or hot to cold water)

  • Always place hot dishes on a soft pad or towel, never directly on metal, glass, or stone

  • Wash with care, though the glaze makes cleanup easy

With just a bit of TLC, your pottery will carry not just meals—but stories and memories—for years to come.

Patterns with Personality

From the beloved Peacock and Mosquito patterns to newer, intricate designs, Polish Pottery celebrates both tradition and individuality. Whether your style is bold and bright or soft and subtle, you’ll find a piece that feels just right for you or as a truly special gift.
